Obviously, some topics are naturally more “emotional,” but you should do your best as the writer to not let this overwhelm the logic in your argument.
Supporting Paragraphs: Each of your supporting paragraphs should include a topic sentence that outlines what that paragraph will discuss. That topic sentence will guide the paragraph and the supporting evidence within that paragraph should all tie directly into the topic sentence.
Conclusion: Your conclusion should do the job of bringing everything together! There should be some final thoughts from you, the author, and there should be a call for action or warning.
Transitions/Cohesion: Your paper should feel like it flows naturally. Your sentences should all follow each other in a cohesive fashion, and your paragraphs should feature transitions so that each one feels connected. Put simply, the reader should feel like they’re reading one paper instead of a collection of paragraphs.
Formatting: Your paper should be in proper MLA. This includes proper margins, spacing, font, and headers. Additionally, this includes a works cited page.
