I had a patient with liver cancer that was on the floor bc of a liver resection. I had him for three consecutive nights and he had so much trouble sleeping always. After getting him comfortable he started complaining of chest pain. He was given meds for that and it went away. Next day after consulting cardio they found out he had suffered from a NSTEMI. They took him to cath lab and stented the artery that was occluded. After the procedure he was to be flat to rest the incision site. He was telling me that he couldn’t stay still, he just couldn’t
His blood pressure started to drop as well as his urine output
He was already asking me to call his wife.. he was transferred to ICU and things went all directions. What that experience left me is how much this patient needed me to be there for him in those times, and how important my interventions were to get him better care. He was downgraded to the floor a couple of weeks after and he asked for me, I met his family and they were grateful for the “angel” he had as a nurse that night.. long story short he was transferred to a long term acute care facility and the night he was transferred he passed away.

Introduction
In this module you will continue your exploration of the development and evolution of nursing theory. Conceptual models, frameworks, and nursing theories represent formal nursing knowledge. Nursing knowledge continues to evolve as nursing educators, researchers, practitioners, and leaders use nursing theories and models to guide their education, research and practice endeavors and report their findings through publications and presentations at nursing conferences.
Florence Nightingale is seen by many as the first nurse theorist. Her ideas about nursing, which she first published in Notes on Nursing: What It Is, and What It Is Not (1859), represent the beginning of formal nursing knowledge. Since then what we know about nursing has evolved considerably. Many nurse theorists have studied and researched the four central concepts that comprise the meta-paradigm of nursing: health, person, environment and nursing.
It is our expectation that, through reading the assigned readings and didactic material and engaging in the learning activities, you will gain a beginning understanding and appreciation for the process of nursing theory development and the value of explicating your own personal practice model. This module provides fundamental information necessary to read, interpret, apply, and develop theory. The content includes definitions of terms and a description of the components of nursing knowledge.
The learning activities are designed to facilitate explicating your own embedded nursing knowledge within the context of the discipline’s framework for structuring knowledge, i.e., the meta-paradigm. The learning activities will give you opportunities to engage in various types of reasoning fundamental to theory development.
Objectives
In this learning experience, the student will be given the opportunity to:
1. Explore the history and current status of theory development in nursing;
2. Examine clinical cases to create a model of nursing practice;
