ESSAY: For this project, you will evaluate an instance of feminist praxis as it connects your individual experience to the larger social and political culture.
Feminist praxis includes the ability to apply and/or enact feminist theoretical principles to/in your own life and experience. Create a self-reflection or narrative that demonstrates participation in and analysis of a feminist event or act of social change; in other words, write an analysis of your participation in feminist action or praxis.
NOTE: Feminist action may involve a “big” public/political event, such as a march or protest, but it could also be a conversation or action within a family, social group, or workplace. Such examples include:
participating in an organized event, like a protest
raising awareness about a feminist issue through traditional and/or social media
speaking out against sexist beliefs and practices such as workplace policies
challenging a friend or family member’s ideas or statements
questioning institutions of power
sharing feminist sentiments/information
attending a feminism-related event that is happening on your campus or in your community

Write a personal narrative reflection essay (750–1250 words) describing and analyzing a particular experience, event, or action in which you have participated that meets the criteria of feminist action as defined in the learning resources for this project.
In your essay, be sure to:
Explain the event.
Describe your role in the event.
Address your perception of the outcome of the event.
Connect your experience in this event to the concepts of feminist action and praxis (i.e., make clear, detailed connections to the learning resources for this assessment).
If applicable, provide any documentation/URLs or other information that helps to provide context for this event.
Your explanation should maintain a clear focus on your selected event or action, and demonstrate your knowledge of feminist action as it relates to the broader concepts of feminism and activism (and their relationship). Your essay should focus on your own experience, although you may include interactions with others as part of your narrative.
