Is enforcing password complexity enough to ensure accounts are secure? If not, what else needs to be implemented? Answer: Password Complexity is a part of the password policy documentation; this tells the users what they need to include in their passwords to meet the policy standards. Typically this includes the minimum length of the password and what characters need to be included in the password. While requiring complex passwords helps a great deal with the security, it is not enough to ensure that your operations remain secure given today’s environments. Requiring a second form of authentication is becoming standard practice now; this enables much greater security than just passwords alone. Two-factor authentication can be set up in various ways; commonly, it is done by providing a PIN via email or text message that needs to be entered on the service you are signing into. Some services also use authentication applications that require the user to open the app and allow the sign-in. Blizzard is a gaming platform on PC that uses the application method to provide two-factor authentication to the user. By Blayne Question: Has technology had a positive or negative impact on society? Explain your answer. What ethical issues have risen from advances in technology?  Answer: The impact of technology on society is a tough call to make. Like with any tool it’s not the sum of its parts but how they are used by us. If you have to have a definitive answer then technology has been more positive than negative. The way we can contact one another, learn new and interesting facts, see places we’ve never been, go places we’ve never been, and many other things that were not possible before are possible now. Those possibilities continue to expand as we create and grow as a society. A more concrete example of technologies impact is learning. We have more access to knowledge originally locked away by boundaries than before. You can easily type in woodworking and learn numerous ways to create anything from art to furniture. As I stated earlier it’s what it is but how its used. The same ability to learn anything doesn’t just apply to something as classical as woodworking, it also applies to more dangerous skills. There are videos and documents on how to create bombs, poison gas, and weapons as well. You can learn how to make just about anything and technology can help; just does not mean we should learn those things or have access to that knowledge. Technology is great so long as it is used for the right reasons.  Post 3. By James Question: Has technology had a positive or negative impact on society? Explain your answer. What ethical issues have risen from advances in technology?  Answer: Technology itself has had considerable positive impacts on the way human beings live and interact with each other. Communication which was unheard of less than 30 years ago was forever altered by the advent of the Internet. This gave rise to other important technologies considering the electronic transmission of data, allowing the whole world to connect instantly with anyone else in the world. This has given rise to social media, online news, and other important systems that allow for information to be known and shared immediately. In addition, other technologies, like newer and faster computing devices, have made accomplishing tasks easier. Things that couldn’t be done by humans previously can be done using a computing device. Unfortunately, these technologies can also be manipulated. A person with a computer could use it to learn and do great things, but could just as easily use it to learn and do terrible things as well. This is the price of implementing any new technology. However, it is also important to consider here that the technology itself is not morally responsible for what it is used for. As far as any given technology having a positive or negative impact on society, it depends entirely on how a human being chooses to use that technology.
