For the sea ice Ice cubes are placed in the water. For the land ice ice cubes are placed on the play dough above the water. The water level is marked with a line and the ice is left to melt. Type response here: Glaciers erode the landscape when they are actively growing in the accumulation zone where ice is added to the glacier. As the ice moves it scrapes along the bedrock gouging out the softer weaker rocks between the harder layers. When the glacier is gone these scratches in the rock fill with water to form lakes. Figure 3 fakes formed by glacial erosion Glaciers deposit sediment where they lose mass in the ablation zone where Ice is lost from the glacier. Sediment is pushed out of the end of a glacier where it creates piles of loose material. As the ice retreats blocks of ice are broken off and left behind burled in the sediment. When the Ice finally melts it leaves behind a depression that can fill with water and form a lake. These are called kettle lakes.
