The primary criteria for judging the essay include:
1) the thoughtful reaction to the prompt and the relation of creative works to other important issues in the world,
2) the depth of analysis of two or more creative works, which leads to a richerunderstanding of one’s involvement or understanding of being alive, and
3) the clarity and depth of writing. All submissions must be typewritten on white paper, double spaced, on one side of the page and in 12-point font.
